Power Distribution Unit (PDU)

Our modern PDUs make it possible to improve the construction of racks and test systems in order to reduce the extreme high number of individual components which have to be purchased and wired.

The construction of test systems often requires a large number of individual components, each requiring dedicated circuit planning and representation in a functional block diagram. The parts are then purchased, mounted on an assembly plate, verified in a laboratory environment for safety reasons and approved by a safety specialist. This entire process then has to be documented.

By comparison, our ready-to-use device, which is available in different power classes, allows considerable savings, especially due to the ability to configure it precisely for the relevant project requirements by means of optional features. There are different models available, from single-phase, 13 A to three-phase, 32 A; the devices come in a 19" form factor of up to 3RU, thereby supporting a compact installation in the system rack.

The specific design covers recurring requirements, like standard-compliant protective covering and documentation. The development of a unified operating concept is supported through circuit breakers for different load circuits as well as an RCD and a service socket on the front plate. Depending on power requirements, the main connection is realized via screw-on or pluggable terminals on the back of the device.

The individual load circuits can be connected via low-power socket boards. A choice of different product options, like the number of required auxiliary DC voltages or an integrated emergency stop controller, make it possible to equip the feeder unit with the exact features that are required by the system.

Moreover, it is always possible to add additional features on request. Amongst these are e. g. surge conductors, single-phase displays, power sequencing of several systems and operating hour counters. Due to the standardized construction of the power supply, it is possible to realize extremely short delivery times for the feeder units. This so-called Power Distribution Unit (PDU) is one of the many configurable modules of our Open Test Platform (OTP²).
