CompactPCI® Serial (PICMG CPCI-S.0) is a new modular computer standard officially adopted by PICMG in 2011. This standard defines a completely new connector to support high-speed serial interfaces including PCI Express, SATA, USB and Ethernet. The mechanical specification is fully compliant with PICMG 2.0 and interoperable with existing cPCI systems via hybrid backplanes. A backplane has six high-speed connectors P1 to P6 on the system slot but only P1 is mandatory on peripheral slots, P2 to P6 being optional. A system can comprise a total of nine blades (one system blade and eight peripheral I/O blades) through an Ethernet full mesh or single star architecture. This standard is the next-generation of the CompactPCI® specification and provides more flexibility and higher speed and bandwidth in modular system solutions.

The ADLINK AD-cPCI-A3515 Series is a 3U CompactPCI Serial compatible processor blade with soldered DDR3L-1333/1600 ECC memory up to 16GB. The ADLINK AD-cPCI-A3515 features a 4th/5th generation Intel® Core„¢ processor with Mobile Intel® QM87 Chipset.

The AD-cPCI-A3515 Series is a 3U CompactPCI Serial blade available in single-slot (4HP) or dual-slot (8HP) width form factors with various daughter boards to provide a broad range of I/O requirements. Faceplate I/O on the single-slot (4HP) version includes 2x DP, 2x GbE and 2x USB 3.0 ports (these I/O are common to all versions). Faceplate I/O on the dual-slot (8HP) version includes additional 2x USB 2.0, 1x COM, 1x VGA on the AD-cPCI-A3515B or additional 2x USB 2.0, 1x COM and Line-in/Line-out on the AD-cPCI-A3515D.

Graphics support is integrated on the CPU and allows 3 independent displays on the faceplate of the AD-cPCI-A3515B with its additional VGA output. Storage includes an mSATA slot or a 32GB SSD (optional) and 2.5" SATA drive on the layer 2 riser card (AD-cPCI-A3515B/D).

Serial interfaces on the backplane connectors P1 to P5 include one PCI Express x8, two PCI Express x4, three PCI Express x1, four SATA 6Gb/s, two USB 3.0, and eight USB 2.0 ports. Additionally, the P6 connector supports up to eight Gigabit Ethernet interfaces.

The AD-cPCI-A3515 is a high performance solution for transportation, factory automation, defense and other industrial applications that require superior data transfer capability and advanced computing power. The ADLINK AD-cPCI-A3515 provides high manageability, supports Satellite mode operation as a standalone blade in peripheral slots, and Smart Embedded Management Agent (SEMA) for system health monitoring.
